English Tuesday:
Today we will carry on with creating an information text. Click here to access the Oak Academy’s next session on committing information text to memory.
Maths Tuesday:
Remember to revisit the counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. Don’t forget you have your Times Table Rockstar logins inside your green books if you’d like to have a go. Parents you may need to assist in the beginning as it may still be a little advanced for them but it’s there if you’d like to have a go.
Click here to view today’s lesson from Oak National Academy. Continuing from yesterday’s, you will be revisiting adding two digit numbers to one digit numbers. Miss Sidhu will be covering some techniques we have already learnt but she will be looking at missing number questions which we have found tricky in the past.
Reading Tuesday
We continue with the Julia Donaldson theme and this week we are going to read ‘The scarecrows wedding’. Put your feet up and watch the book come alive. When you have finished this story, have a go at some of the activities listed below.
- Revisit the pages where the animals give Harry and Betty wedding items. Have a go at drawing the animals and the items that they gave.
- What words can you find that rhyme? Create a pairs game using those words.
- Using the clue-cards, create clues that describe the wedding list. Hide them around the room and see if your grown up can find then and work out what the clues are.
Grown ups, you might need to explain that stories often have a good guy (a ‘goodie’) and a bad guy (a ‘baddie’).
Make a list of character traits for ‘goodies’ and ‘baddies’ eg. a hero, kind, selfless compared to naughty, careless, mean. Discuss with your child which characters from The Scarecrow’s Wedding could be seen as the ‘good guy’ and ‘bad guy’ characters? Was Reginald Rake really ‘baddie’ or did he just make a simple mistake? Did he do any other mean or naughty things? Can your child think of any other goodies and baddies guys in Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler books?
