Hi Larks and Owls,
We hope you’ve been enjoying the sunshine and had a lovely half term. We are continuing our Home Learning on the blog so that you will be able to continue your learning at home. Like with previous weeks, we encourage you to do what you can and there is no expectation to do it all, especially not all at once. Miss Wilson is back in school so will be posting the week’s worth of learning online and Mrs Gillison will be checking in on our families that are remaining at home. We’re having a break from Oak National Academy and commencing it again next week along with the children in Y1 that have returned to school.
Maths: Doubling
This week we’re going to look at doubles. What happens to a number when we double it? What does doubling mean? How might it look like written down in a number sentence? E.g. 1 + 1 = 2 or 3 + 3 = 6.

Monday English/PSHE
Today in school we are going to be talking lots about our feelings. Feelings that we have had during our time at home. Some of us have been happy, some of us have been worried and some of us may have felt sad. At times, we may have felt a mixture of lots of feelings and that is ok. There is no writing required today. I want you to be creative. Draw a picture, make something, or maybe you’re just going to talk about it but I want you to focus on just one feeling. Today’s feeling is worry. As a family, this will involve you talking openly about a time when you’ve felt worried. What did you do? How did you overcome this worry? Did you manage your actions well when you were worried? Did you make good choices? (Allow your child time to think before responding, they may find talking about this difficult but by waiting patiently and sharing your own worries, it will enable them to open up.) Discuss other scenarios about when people might be worried. Talking openly about feelings is really important and listening to your child and enabling them to have a voice is really key. I hope you find this activity comforting. We’ll be doing lots of things like this in school this week and I equally want you to have them at home too.

Monday Reading
This week we are going to focus on Traditional Tales with today’s focus on Jack and the Beanstalk. During the summer term of Y1 we would spend some time reading texts and begin asking children some more comprehensive questions about the text they have read or had read to them. For these tasks this week, I would like you to enjoy reading to your child and spend some time answering the questions around the text. There might be lots of learning or craft activities you can do around the stories and if you watch an animated version on YouTube, you can spend some time discussing the similarities and differences between the two versions.
