Please find attached the pdf of the children’s spellings for after half term. We will be testing the children on these every Friday morning and when we return to school on Monday we will get these stuck into their yellow reading records. We will let you know how your child has done by highlighting any incorrect spellings in their reading records. We have given you 12 spellings to learn per week but depending on your child’s individual needs, they may only get tested on a range from 6-12 spellings.
These will also be sent on School Ping for you to save and we’ll send home a paper copy when we return to school.
We had a great time today using hula hoops to improve our accuracy in throwing and catching.
Congratulations to our sports roles models.

We all got a little muddy today on our last forest school session. Ian was hosing down the mudslide to make it even more slippery!
The rain didn’t stop us from getting outside and taking part in The Daily Mile. Well done to everyone who ran, jogged or walked the mile. ππΌββοΈ πββοΈ

Afternoon Play didn’t quite happen on Friday but we enjoyed watching the playground with all the rain coming down! It was unfortunate that it wasn’t Wednesday otherwise we would have put on our forest school kit and splashed around in the puddles! π€£βοΈπ¦
Year 1 had a great morning practising their throwing, catching and rolling skills.
We also had two new ‘Star Players’ who were excellent role models.

In Computing this week both classes have spent some time discussing online safety. We used the story of ‘Smartie the Penguin’ that they heard in Reception to help us. In summary, Smartie had a tablet for his birthday and used it a lot. Occasionally he came across a pop up and games he wasn’t sure on. Smartie knew to be SENSIBLE online and to always ask an adult if he was unsure. We sang the song to help remind us what to do!
This led us to talk about trust and whether we can trust everyone. We talked about how we can trust our family, teachers and police officers. I asked the individuals if they would trust someone at the park that they didn’t know. I gave them a scenario that if someone approached them and invited them to their house because they had sweeties, would they go? The results were quite alarming and about 50% of both classes said they would. I then spent some time discussing with all of the children the importance of never to trust anyone they don’t know and to always find and tell their parents if they feel scared or uncomfortable.
I made a note of the pupils’ responses so if you’d like confirmation to find out what your child said then please feel free to email me: kwilson@coopersedge.gloucs.sch.uk
Please, please find some time to talk about trust and ask them the same scenario above and see what your child would respond second time round.

Over the last few days, we have been looking at our place on Earth. We started with our planet and worked our way down to Coopers Edge, looking at the seven different continents at the same time. This is the route we made…
During PSHE, we talked about the importance of rules. We then went on to talk about good and bad choices within the classroom and school environment.
Can your child tell you some of our playground rules?
