* Food Tasting *

This afternoon both classes used their sense of taste to describe some fruits. We tasted banana, apple, orange, pineapple and blueberries! Some of the fruits were described as juicy, some were crunchy and others were sweet!

Some children hadn’t tried some of the fruits and had overcome their fear of trying new foods. Next time you have a meal, ask the children to describe what it tastes like. Is it soft? Crunchy? Sweet or maybe sour?

Comment below to let us know of any foods that your child has tried. What did they think of it? Would they have it again? Each comment will receive a success star for your child. ⭐️

* Computing *

Today the Owls & Larks have had Computing with Miss Wilson. We talked LOTS about the internet and how amazing it is. The children were able to list devices that have the internet on, including kindles and an apple iWatch. I was very impressed with their knowledge. We then talked about the difference between a desktop PC and a laptop. We named the monitor, keyboard and mouse and talked about what the ‘spacebar’ does. See if your child can remember that it is used to create a ‘finger space’ on the screen. Once we’d shared all that we knew, we had our first ever go at logging on with a friend! Awesome work from the Y1s this morning. ⭐️ 🖥 💻 🌍

* The Morning Rush *

This morning we performed our poem to the whole school. See if the children can tell you the poem at home. 😁

* Making Faces *

In forest school this morning we were using lots of natural resources in the forest school site to create faces. Some children were very creative and had eyebrows, hair, nose, mouth etc. We had lots of fun!

This is something you could try at home, next time you’re out in the park or visiting a wood, set your child the task of making something. Maybe a chair? Maybe a swing for a teddy to climb on or maybe an animal. Share with us some of the things you make.

* Sorting & Identifying Numbers *

This morning we had lots of fun in Maths.

-We were set different challenges to build towers using number and colour.

-We had to sort number sentences that would have the same totals.

-We had to show more/less/equal numbers using a tens frame.

– We looked at graphs and discussed which was the least/most popular or equal

– Identifying numbers that are represented differently- maybe by tallies, on a die, on a tens frame, written as a word, written as a digit.

Using the images to help conversation at home, see if your child can show you something they learnt today.

* Our Senses *

This past week we have been learning more about our senses. Did you know we have five senses? See if your child can name the different senses and give an example of each. Throughout the week, when you’re doing different activities, stop and ask them what senses they are using.

On Friday we created our own sensory boards in small groups. Have a think, when else are our senses important? How do they help to keep us safe? Record your child’s response by commenting on this blog post.

Each comment we receive will mean your child will be awarded a success star back In the classroom. 😀 ⭐️
