Our trip to the library

Owls were lucky enough to be the first class to visit the new and improved library this year. We have all taken out a book using our library cards. These cards will stay in school. Books will need to be returned by 23rd March, this will be our next visit. 

Larks will be visiting the library on Monday 16th March.

The weeks phonics

We have been looking at the ch phoneme family. This is made up of:

ch – chip

tch- pitch

We have also looked at the e phoneme family. This is made up of:

e-egg

ea- head

And several tricky words:

said, says, friend, leopard, any.

* Money Money Money *

This week we are looking at money. We are looking at coins in particular and seeing if the children can recognise and name the coins, as well as identify their value. This morning we have made totals of multiple coins (see the picture attached). Some children had dots underneath each coin to show their value and some used a tens frame to help them find the total. Please ‘spend’ (excuse the pun!) some time allowing your child to handle coins and find totals. Next time you’re in the shop, maybe they can have a go at purchasing something with your assistance.
